What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?

Battling the procrastination demon, putting butt-in-chair, and sticking to writing the story. There are so many distractions and things that need attending rather than writing! But there’s only one way to get a book written and that is to get it out of your head and onto a page—digital or otherwise! BTW, I’ve tried dictating but it doesn’t really work for me.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

Currently, I’m writing two books a year for Harlequin Mills & Boon. I’m not the fastest writer in the world, as I like to get a chapter as good as I can before moving onto the next. I know that’s not how some others write, but it works for me—and that’s all that counts really, isn’t it? Each writer figures out their own process.

Do you believe in writer's block?

I think there’s always a reason for “writer’s block”, where a story simply won’t happen, or a scene doesn’t work. I can panic, and curse, and think I’ll never write another story. But for me, it’s often because I’m chasing the wrong story direction or I’m in the wrong point of view for the scene. Another author once advised me that if a scene won’t work, it’s usually because of something that happened (or didn’t happen!) in the pages before it. That’s invariably the problem. I go back and fix it, and the writer’s block is cleared. Thankfully, I’ve never suffered from totally debilitating block.

Tell us about your book...

Mistletoe Magic in Tahiti is a warm, emotional story about a sensual vacation fling that could become a lasting love—if only my lovely heroine Sienna and gorgeous hero Kai can put past hurts and inhibitions behind them. It’s a destination romance set on the tropical island paradise of Bora Bora—a wish-list place if ever there was one! There’s a strong family element in this story. Sienna and her two sisters made The Christmas Pact, to spend Christmas by themselves in an exotic location. Kai has also has strong family ties—and a precious baby daughter to consider in his plans for his future. I loved writing this story and hope readers will love it too!
