Alert on: Phillipa Clark & Deadly Falls (Charlotte Dean Mysteries Book 2)

Deadly Falls (Charlotte Dean Mysteries Book 2)

In every small town there’s a gossip and sometimes words can kill . . .

Charlotte Dean is happy to put her troubled life as a psychiatrist behind her. Life is peaceful working in the bookshop in picturesque Kingfisher Falls . . . until the death of a local sends shock waves through the small community. Was it an accident or is something more sinister going on?

Suddenly Charlotte finds herself questioning the motives of everyone in town from the book club ladies to the local police officer. Even those closest to her, including her boss and friend, Rosie, might have reason to be hiding something.

When Charlotte discovers someone is watching her every move, she’ll have to decide who she can truly trust. And if she misplaces her trust? The results could be deadly . . .

The Charlotte Dean Mysteries is a brand new series of mysteries from the author of The Stationmaster’s Cottage. Set amongst Victoria’s beautiful Macedon Ranges featuring a quirky cast of characters and a dash of danger, it’s small town mystery with a unique Australian twist.

Does your family support your career as a writer?
They do. My eldest son was the one who started me on the indie publishing path, and I get lots of support from my close family.

If you had to do something differently as a child or teenager to become a better writer as an adult, what would you do?

Finish high school. Family circumstances forced me to leave school at 14.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

I'm getting faster as I write more. Less than three months for a full novel if I know what I'm writing. Trouble is I usually start with a snippet of an idea and follow where it leads.

Tell us about your book...

Deadly Falls is book 2 in my new small town, whodunit series. Charlotte Dean finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation. She'd rather not, but the local police officer doesn't treat it seriously, and someone is sending Charlotte annonymous tips. Her sort-of-friend Trev, the police officer she knows from the River's End Mystery Romance series, makes a welcome appearance to visit his mother, Rosie, who Charlotte works for. He is alarmed at the secrets Charlotte's been keeping. This puts them at odds and when suspicion falls on Rosie, it forces Charlotte to make a decision which might change her life.
