What is a typical writing day for you?

I do my best writing in the mornings and I write most days. I’ll go all day if my word count needs it. I think of my process as two-steps forward, one back. I push forward for a few days, get stuck, go back to the beginning and comb out the tangles. Then I push forward a little more.

I’m not one of these writers who needs to get it all down. I need time to think along the way so it works for me to work in waves.

What have you learned from being a writer?

I’ve learned to be patient, but also when it’s time to let go. Writing is re-writing. You can always noodle it longer and make it better, but at some point you have to say, “It’s ready” and let it go.

I’ve learned to trust my instincts and that what works for some writers may or may not work for me. And that’s okay! We’re all different people.

What’s been your biggest obstacle and how did you overcome it?

It took twenty-five years of rejection before I sold my first book. Perseverance got me through that. I had to believe in myself and my writing, but it helped me build resilience and understand that setbacks are okay. They won’t kill me. :)

Tell us about your book...

The Baby His Secretary Carries is the first in a duet linked by a surrogate pregnancy. Molly is carrying a baby for Sasha, who turns up in The Secret of Their Billion-dollar Baby (Mar 2024).

Molly is really a very sweet, middle-class American girl born to a single mom. She wants to make something of herself and doesn’t consider herself very remarkable, not even when she volunteers to carry a pregnancy for her friend. But Sasha lived with them as a teen and allowed them to adopt her daughter so Molly feels a deep debt of gratitude.

Years later, she has taken a job in London working for a sexy Italian, Gio. Again, she doesn’t regard herself as special, but she receives an amazing promotion—to work directly with Gio. The catch? She’s pregnant with Sasha’s baby!! And Gio’s grandfather is on his deathbed, pleading with Gio to marry. So Gio convinces Molly to pretend to be his fiancée, but this is not a ruse that can last forever. Babies refuse to stay hidden!

If you love secrets and fake engagements and sexy heroes with broken pasts, grab this one. You’ll love it!
