My life:

I grew up near Vancouver BC Canada, married my high school sweetheart, and had two children who have since fled the nest. I write full time, mostly for Harlequin Presents, but I also write small town, romcoms, erotic and historical romance. When I’m not writing, we like to travel, but honestly, I always seem to be writing.

Influences:

I’m probably most influenced by early Harlequin Presents writers like Robyn Donald, Michelle Reid, Charlotte Lamb… These days, if I read my fellow authors, I get insecure about my own work so I tend to read nonfiction or something that I’m not writing. Eg. If I’m writing contemporary, I’ll read historical romance.

How I write:

One word at a time! I wish there was a simple formula. For years my goal was two thousand words a day. These days I’m happy with one thousand, but I often exceed it. Then again, I can have days that wind up in the negative. I like to revise as I go so that sometimes means cutting what I wrote yesterday. Fortunately, that doesn’t happen too often. Mostly I seem to progress two steps forward, one step back, and somehow a book gets written.

Motivation- Why I write:

I’ve danced with burn out for the last few years and was creeping back into it a few weeks ago. Then I took a long drive and suddenly found myself with a whole book plotted, one I am itching to write! So I think I write because the stories keep showing up.
